FAQ

Is TrailLeaf an identification app?

It’s a pocket animal Journal first. You Snap what you find, confirm the match, and grow your collection. The real game is getting outside.

Where does TrailLeaf work?

TrailLeaf is built for explorers everywhere. Journals open region by region — Catalog, Map, and Curated walks where we’ve launched, plus companions (like dog breeds) in Explore. More places join as we grow.

Why was my Snap rejected or marked as junk?

Photos that aren’t wildlife, or that can’t be assessed, may be declined so Snaps aren’t wasted. Try a clearer photo of the animal. Repeated junk may temporarily limit Snaps.

What are Snaps?

Snaps are how you log finds. Free explorers get a monthly allowance (about 10 Snaps). TrailLeaf Pro raises that allowance and unlocks extras like Snap frames, Field Insights, and curated trails. You can also top up with packs in the Trail shop (Trail snack, Day pack, Explorer satchel). Keeping a find costs 1 Snap.

Purchases & restore

Buy Snap packs or TrailLeaf Pro through the App Store or Google Play when the listing is live. Use Restore Purchases in Shop / Profile if you reinstall or switch phones. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google.

Camera or location permission

Camera is required to Snap. Location is optional — it improves trail clues and map context. You can change permissions in your device Settings → TrailLeaf.

Delete my account / data

Use our Forget me page to request permanent deletion of explorer data we hold. You can also clear local progress from Profile on your device.

Report a listing or share

On the Trade Board, open a listing and tap Report (or Block to hide that explorer). Public share pages also have a Report this share control. We review reports and take down content that doesn’t belong. Email [email protected] if you need help.

Report a bad ID or bug

Email [email protected] with a short description and, if you’re willing, the species you expected. Screenshots help.
